While the national media either ponders from a distance or parachutes in once every four years in its efforts to cover the Rust Belt, Belt Magazine is here year-round, providing a deeper understanding of this most consequential region. We are a nonprofit journalism website based in Cleveland, Ohio, dedicated to providing meaningful coverage on the politics, policy concerns, and culture of the Rust Belt and the Midwest, a region that was woefully ignored during the 2016 presidential election. In the run-up to the 2018 and 2020 election cycles, our mission is to both better inform those living inside the region and to provide greater insight to those living in the rest of the country on the issues and concerns of the people who live here.
