Belt Magazine, a digital publication of writing and journalism by and for the Rust Belt and greater Midwest, is seeking a part-time engagement editor to help the publication understand and expand its audience. The engagement editor will manage Belt’s audience engagement strategy, working with the editor and social media coordinator to grow digital outreach, events and promotion, and membership programs. Some elements of the position may be tailored to the interests of the candidate.

Belt Magazine is published by Belt Media Collaborative, a 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to advance, publish, and otherwise promote the best writing by and for the Rust Belt and greater Midwest. The ideal candidate will be excited about sharing regional writing and journalism with new readers and have a demonstrated commitment to community and/or audience engagement. Experience with journalism, literary publishing, and/or social media and newsletter management is a plus.

This is a part-time, contract position starting at 10-15 hours per week, with the opportunity to grow along with the organization. Compensation: $25/hour + 20 hours of paid vacation time. Unfortunately, we cannot offer other benefits to employees at this time.

Belt Media Collaborative is a 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to advance, publish, and otherwise promote literary, artistic, journalistic, and creative endeavors inspired by the Industrial Midwest. Belt Media Collaborative publishes Belt Magazine, a digital publication dedicated to writing and journalism by and for the Rust Belt and greater Midwest.
