Belt Magazine, a digital publication by and for the Rust Belt and greater Midwest, is seeking a part-time creative director to help shape the look and feel of the publication. This position will develop Belt’s editorial and brand image, including working with the editor and engagement team to create and curate visuals for our website, newsletter, and social media. Some elements of the position may be tailored to the interests and creative vision of the candidate.

Belt Magazine is published by Belt Media Collaborative, an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to nuanced, context-driven regional storytelling. Our ideal candidate shares this mission and has experience creating graphics and illustrations, sourcing and editing photography, and curating a cohesive visual presence in a digital context. Web design and/or journalism experience is a plus.

This is a part-time contract position starting at 5-6 hours per week, with the potential to grow along with the organization. Compensation: $25/hour + 10 hours of paid vacation time + two paid weeks off during the holidays. Unfortunately, we cannot offer other benefits at this time.
