Friday, August 14 Logan Square poster and street art gallery Galerie F hosts an opening reception for Re-Integrator: Crosshair Studio’s 20th Anniversary from 6 to 10 pm. The exhibit is the first major solo exhibition for Crosshair founder Dan MacAdam, whose work is heavily inspired by the post-industrials landscapes of Chicago and the region.

Saturday, August 15 Get mellow with Mucca Pazza! The mad marching band — er, “mobile orchestra” — brings its new Sitting in Chairs show to Wicker Park’s First Ward Events for one night only tonight at 8 pm. Bonus! Belt is proud to premiere the video for artistic director Ronnie Kuller’s “Sit Down Waltz,” featuring the Mucca Pazza cheerleaders standing on chairs, here on our site.

Sunday, August 16 Do your Sunday shopping at the Chicago Reader-sponsored Made in Chicago market, featuring local foods, artisanal apparel, and more at the Pulaski Park Field House.

Monday, August 17 Celebrate the blessed departure of the Air & Water Show by going to North Avenue Beach and renting a stand-up paddleboard from Chicago SUP, which reopens today after the very noisy weekend.

Tuesday, August 18 No one puts Baby in the corner — but you can put her in some public space. Join the rest of Chicago to watch Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze try and nail that lift tonight when Dirty Dancing screens for free in Millenium Park’s Pritzker Pavilion.

Wednesday, August 19 Illinois Humanities and the National Museum of Mexican Art offer a tour of sculptor Rodrigo Lara Zendejas’s installation Deportable Aliens, which explores the calamitous Mexican Repatriation panic of the 1930s and its resonance with contemporary issues of immigration and social justice. It’s followed by a conversation with the artist, curator Dolores Mercado, and art historian Daniel R. Quiles.

Thursday, August 20 The League of Chicago Theatre’s Theatre Thursdays program offers patrons insight into the creative process behind new work on Chicago stages every week. Tonight, join them for Kokandy Productions’ highly recommended Loving Repeating: The Life and Loves of Gertrude Stein, and a reception and talk with the director and cast.

Belt has some great events scheduled for September, and members receive discounts on tickets. Hint, hint.
