Belt Magazine is seeking a Cleveland-based part-time intern for both its book and magazine publishing divisions. The position combines editorial and business responsibilities, and is ideal for a strong writer interested helping a media start-up expand and develop.
The intern will participate in creating Belt Magazine’s content and work with editors to generate story ideas, publish articles and contribute to the creative direction of the publication. He or she will also assist in the production process of Belt Publishing’s print books and administrative tasks related to both Belt’s membership program and book sales.
Ideal candidates will have a degree in journalism, English or similar course of study, effective verbal and written communication skills, a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills and experience with or interest in the business end of journalism and publishing. Students seeking an internship for degree credit are also invited to apply.
The position will entail 10-15 hours of work. The candidate must be located in the Cleveland area and be able to work remotely. This is a three month unpaid position with the possibility of a paid position at the end of the internship.
