Belt Media Collaborative, an independent nonprofit organization and publisher of Belt Magazine, is seeking an executive director/publisher to direct and manage the fulfillment of the organization’s mission (“to publish and promote literary, artistic, journalistic, and creative endeavors inspired by the industrial Midwest”). Reporting to the board of directors, the executive director/publisher will oversee all administrative, financial, fundraising, and program operations for Belt Media Collaborative and Belt Magazine.

Belt Magazine is a digital publication by and for the Rust Belt and greater Midwest, with an emphasis on nuanced, context-driven regional storytelling (learn more about our mission and work here). Our ideal candidate shares these values and has relevant leadership and fundraising experience, ideally at a journalism, literary, or humanities nonprofit. Strong knowledge of Rust Belt history and culture is desired.

This is a full-time position with the potential to grow along with the organization. Compensation is negotiable based on qualifications and experience, beginning at $55,000.

Review of applications will begin 7/18/22 and continue until the position is filled. Applicants of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply, especially women, LGBTQ+ people, people of color, Black and Indigenous people, and people with disabilities. The candidate will work remotely but must live in the Rust Belt.

To apply, please send a resume and cover letter detailing your interest and relevant experience to editorial@beltmag with EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR in the subject line. Questions can be directed to editor Ryan Schnurr via email: [email protected]. ■
