The media missed the Rust Belt, the story goes, and the results of the 2016 election show how poorly coastal outlets understand our crucial region. Since November, many newsrooms have been wringing their hands trying to understand how they got it wrong, and wondering what they can do to better cover the Rust Belt.
We have an idea: let’s fund the magazine that has been here all along, doing great journalism.
As we relaunch out magazine with a stronger, more focused mission, we’ve started a crowdfunding campaign to make sure we can it the ground running with deep reporting and insightful essays.
We’re getting there, but we need your help to keep us going.
Since its launch in 2013, has been an independent magazine, relying on our members for support. Our crowdfunding campaign is a great way to start your own membership or to get some freebies–tote bags, books, and other cool Rust Belt swag.
But you’re getting a lot more than books and totes. You’re getting the kind of journalism you deserve.
Help us keep doing that. You can do it here.
